WE HAVE ARRIVED SAFELY; PRAISE THE LORD!!!

Greetings brother and sisters. The 2007 Work and Witness team has arrived safely and was greeted with much enthusiasm. Praise God for His watching over us. More details to come later. May His will continue to be done. Please keep us in your prayers and we will update you as technology permits.

2007 WORK AND WITNESS SOUTH AFRICAN TEAM

What is Work and Witness? The Work and Witness program is a team of volunteers who have responded to the call of God to be a part of helping those who do not have the resources needed to help themselves. This program was developed by the Nazarene denomination and consist of volunteers, who at their own expense and time away from home and jobs, are willing to go forth and help others in need as God leads the way. They go enthusiastically to also support their brothers and sisters in Christ who have been called to the mission field.

Raleigh First Church of the Nazarene has been blessed by God to be called for a second time to send a Work and Witness team to Johannesburg, South Africa. In 2002, God called our former associate pastor, Chuck Lockard, his wife Anna-Marie, and their daughter Annique to the campus of Nazarene Theological College (NTC) located in South Africa. As they stepped out in joyful obedience, God gave them a passion to mentor, train, and equip young men and women to be prepared for whatever God’s call would be on their life, and to do it with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength. Although this sounds simple, it no easy task, especially in a third world country where supplies are limited, funds are low, and safety is always in the forefront of your mind.

In September 2007, a team of 17 volunteers, representing six churches, will be leaving to go serve the Lockards and the staff of NTC. In the past a team was able to build and provide the necessary equipment to insure security and lighting on the campus. This trip, team members will work diligently to refurbish much needed classrooms and facilities on campus. It is important to remember that without the help of faithful brothers and sisters, these tasks would not be possible—tasks that allow God’s work to continue in an area where the “harvest is ripe.”
